My Journey So Far
If someone had told me a few years ago that I’d trade my lab coat for design tools, I probably would’ve laughed. But here I am—Deni, a Biochemistry graduate from the University of Ilorin, navigating the ever-evolving world of UI/UX design.
I graduated with a second-class upper and a head full of dreams. Science was great, no doubt—but I realized over time that I wanted to build experiences, not just analyze formulas. So about two years ago, I made the bold decision to transition into the world of design. No map. Just curiosity, grit, and a strong desire to create something people can actually use and feel.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve been fortunate enough to work on exciting design gigs—some of which are about to go live (which feels surreal). One of my proudest development moments so far has been interning with LetiArts, a gaming design company. Being part of their creative process has pushed me to think differently and work smarter—especially in the context of gaming, storytelling, and user engagement.
Right now, I’m channeling my energy into two major things:
1. A game concept I’m building with my team (let’s just say it involves light, shadows, and stealth—yes, it’s that cool), and
2. A personal crypto project that allows people to pay for anything using crypto assets—no need for fiat. This one is very close to my heart, and it’s where I’m pouring a lot of late nights and brainpower.
Of course, it hasn’t all been smooth. One of the biggest challenges I face today is securing a full-time UX job. Sometimes, it feels like everyone is a designer now, and breaking through can be tough. But I remind myself constantly: I’m not just another designer. I’m Deni. I bring my unique blend of science, creativity, and hustle to every project I touch.
Outside of design, I still make time for the things I love. I play ball, read a lot, and I’m also part of an artist’s team—I help promote his music and support his creative journey. It’s a whole different space, but it energizes me and keeps me connected to creativity in a broader sense.
This journey is still unfolding, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned so far, it’s this: you don’t have to have it all figured out. You just need to stay curious, stay hungry, and keep building.
Thanks for reading,
